Privacy Policy

Solisla ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Solisla website and application (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding your personal data.

By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms and Conditions.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, password, and your chosen display name (username). Your username is publicly visible. Your email address and password are never displayed publicly.

Reviews and Ratings: When you submit a review, we collect the written review text, star ratings across multiple categories, and the rental timeframe you select. This content is displayed publicly under your username.

Verification Documents: If you choose to verify a review, you may upload a document such as a lease agreement, utility bill, or renter's insurance policy. These documents are stored temporarily in a secure, private system accessible only to authorized administrators. All verification documents are permanently deleted immediately after a verification decision is made. We do not retain, copy, archive, or share these documents beyond the time necessary to make a verification decision. After deletion, the only information retained is whether the review was verified, the date of the decision, and the number of verification attempts.

Flags and Reports: If you flag a review, we collect the reason you selected and any additional context you provide.

Communications: If you contact us at admin@solisla.co, we collect your email address and the content of your message.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Platform, including pages visited, features used, timestamps, and referring URLs.

Device and Browser Information: We collect device type, operating system, browser type, screen resolution, and language settings.

IP Address: We collect your IP address for security purposes, including detecting fraudulent activity, preventing coordinated rating manipulation, and enforcing our Terms and Conditions. We do not publicly display or share IP addresses.

Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use essential cookies to maintain your session and keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not sell advertising on the Platform.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To operate the Platform: displaying reviews, property information, and aggregated ratings
  • To manage your account: authentication, login sessions, and account security
  • To process review verifications: reviewing uploaded documents and issuing verification decisions
  • To moderate content: reviewing flagged content and enforcing our Terms and Conditions
  • To communicate with you: sending verification status updates, flag notifications, account-related emails, and responding to your inquiries
  • To detect and prevent abuse: identifying coordinated rating manipulation, duplicate accounts, fraudulent reviews, and other violations of our Terms
  • To improve the Platform: analyzing usage patterns to improve features, performance, and user experience
  • To comply with legal obligations: responding to lawful requests from law enforcement or regulatory authorities

We do not use your information to serve advertisements. We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Platform. Each has access only to the information necessary to perform its function:

Supabase — Database hosting, user authentication, and file storage. Your account information, reviews, and verification documents (while temporarily stored) are hosted on Supabase's infrastructure. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.

Resend — Transactional email delivery. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for the purpose of sending account-related emails such as signup confirmations, verification status updates, and flag notifications. Resend's privacy policy is available at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Vercel — Website hosting and deployment. Vercel may automatically collect IP addresses and basic request data as part of serving the Platform. Vercel's privacy policy is available at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

RentCast — Property data. When you search for an address, we may send that address to RentCast's API to retrieve standardized property information. No personal user data is shared with RentCast — only the property address being searched.

We do not share your personal information with any third party for marketing, advertising, or data brokerage purposes.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Aggregated and De-Identified Data: We may share aggregated, anonymized data that cannot reasonably be used to identify any individual. This may include aggregated review statistics, rating trends, and property-level data summaries shared with third-party platforms or data partners. No individual user information is included in aggregated data.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

Business Transfers: If Solisla is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Platform before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

With Your Consent: We may share your information for purposes not described in this Privacy Policy if we have obtained your explicit consent to do so.

5. Data Retention

Account Information: We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your email address and password. Reviews you submitted prior to account deletion may remain on the Platform in a de-identified form at our discretion, as described in our Terms and Conditions.

Reviews: Reviews are retained indefinitely as part of the Platform's public record unless removed through our content moderation process.

Verification Documents: Permanently deleted immediately after a verification decision. No copies are retained.

Flags and Reports: Retained for as long as necessary to administer our moderation process and maintain records of moderation decisions.

Usage and Device Data: Retained for up to 12 months, after which it is deleted or aggregated in a form that can no longer identify individual users.

Communications: Emails sent to admin@solisla.co are retained for as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry, and no longer than 24 months.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
  • Private, access-controlled storage for verification documents
  • Row-level security policies restricting database access based on user roles
  • Secure password hashing (passwords are never stored in plain text)

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Correction

You may access and update your account information, including your email address and username, through your account settings at any time.

7.2 Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at admin@solisla.co. Upon deletion, we will remove your email address, password, and account profile. Reviews submitted prior to deletion may be retained in a de-identified form.

7.3 Email Communications

You will receive transactional emails related to your account activity (verification decisions, flag notifications). These are not marketing emails and are necessary for the operation of your account. You may stop receiving these emails by deleting your account.

7.4 California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

We do not sell personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act.

7.5 Hawaii Residents

Hawaii does not currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy law comparable to the CCPA. However, we extend the same rights described in Section 7.4 to all users regardless of location.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a user under 18, we will promptly delete that information and terminate the associated account.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Platform prior to the changes taking effect. Your continued use of the Platform after updated Privacy Policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
